Not a fan of traditional weddings, Calvin and Jazryl decided to have a getaway in Bali to celebrate their marriage with their closest friends. Nested in between the villas with full view of the ocean, they had a simple but lovely celebration.
Travelling a distance for any one thing, including a wedding celebration, demands commitment and effort. It was this group of people who devoted their time to those they deemed mattered most; to be fully present for Calvin and Jazryl on their special day- physically and emotionally. Friends made and kept by choice, their bonds with each other and support for one another were felt ever so strongly that night.
It was a beautiful gathering under the stars, where within the celebration of marriage, it was too, the celebration of friendship.
For Xinwei and Yingfeng, we decided to keep it simple and went for a sunset stroll on the beach. Their first interaction was in school when they were planning birthday celebrations together, so we brought a cake into the shoot knowing that it meant something to them. This brought back fond memories and sparked playful conversation between Xinwei and Yingfeng. It was a beautiful moment and we couldn’t help but smile. Sometimes the simplest things brings the most contentment.
Elisha and Mingxian wanted their shoot to be meaningful; a reminder of faith, courage and love. Drawing parallels from baptism, the water signifies cleansing- leaving everything behind and starting anew. Right after their wedding day, they’ll move to San Francisco to start a new job, a new home, a new life. Revolving around the song ‘Oceans’, this shoot symbolizes their journey together, and to a new beginning to come.
“Lead me where my trust is without borders, let me walk upon the waters. Wherever You would call me, take me deeper than my feet could ever wander, and my faith will be made stronger.”
