Unlike the previous style shoot, Hello April is not a heavily styled shoot, only basic necessities of a wedding shoot were used.
I decided to do this shoot on the day the postman appeared at the office with a huge box of 3 film cameras and a dozen of Fuji pro 400H films.
Shooting mainly with film, I decided to go back to the basics, to try to capture the soul of the artists involved instead of being overwhelmed by the abundance of decoration and food.
Therefore, for this lookbook , I decided to curate a team which I have known for awhile and would have a good understand of who they are as an artist and individual. And even the model was someone I met in my earlier days as a fashion photographer. Quite a dream team I would say.
And if any of you are wondering, this is indeed Singapore.
Singapore is full of wonders if only you are willing to tie up your boots and brave through the heat and mosquitoes.
And I am very thankful for my 2 trusty interns, Jessica and Ying Fai who cleared paths in the woods, consistently spray repellent for the crew and changing all the films for me.
Theo and Josh came down our place one month before their wedding day, ” We are so late only because we were taking a long time and we couldn’t find a vendor that both of us could agree on, until we chanced upon you guys.”
And this is the mark of the start of a beautiful journey.
Before everything session, I would ask couples for 2 words to describe the style they want for their set.
They chose “Timeless” and “Dreamy” .
Therefore in this shoot I combined digital and film photography, using mainly Kodak Portra 400 and Fuji 400H films to achieve that.
